As your city councillor, I will focus on investment in our communities. I’m committed to fighting for public and community services to be properly funded, while opposing wasteful sprawl that is paving over our greenspace and currently paid for by residents and taxpayers in Ward 11.

I believe that the most fiscally responsible city is a livable city, with dense and connected neighbourhoods and thriving small businesses and social enterprises.

Tackling the Neighbourhood Basics.

  • Create safer roads for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians by planning complete corridors, shifting to long-term preventative road maintenance, and tougher contractor guarantee clauses on municipal tenders.

  • Address rat infestations through Integrated Pest Management (IPM), hotspot bait trapping, and pest plans for construction sites.

  • Prioritize sidewalk snow clearing, curb cuts, and expanded transit options/shelters.

  • Allow easier permitting of corner stores in residential areas.

  • Invest in neighborhood park infrastructure, like year-round adult fitness equipment at Carmichael Playground.

Building Community Wealth.

  • Generate new enterprise revenue by expanding Agilis Networks into residential internet service, leveraging geothermal energy, and commercializing Sudbury’s regreening expertise.

  • Bring back the Auditor General to protect tax dollars.

  • Implement a Social Value Evaluation Scorecard for municipal tenders to keep contracts local.

  • Incentivize multi-residential/higher-density housing while curtailing expensive, taxpayer-funded sprawl.

  • Provide targeted municipal tax relief for senior homeowners on the Guaranteed Income Supplement.

Supporting Healthy, Caring Communities.

  • Create turnkey clinic space to recruit and retain family physicians to Greater Sudbury.

  • Create a non-police 2-1-1 fourth emergency service for mental health and addiction crises.

  • Prioritize the new Second Avenue Emergency Services Station and lobby for permanent funding for patient transfer services.

  • Support non-profit acquisition funds to protect affordable rentals and incentives for home care supports for seniors.

  • Build a permanent patient transfer program and strengthen the successful Community Paramedicine program.
